This ancient temple is located in Chhatta Anantram area of the old city. No one knows the exact period of its construction but the temple has a deep connection to the first war of independence that began from Meerut in 1857. In this courtyard, under the patronage of Peshwa Nanaji, the revolution plan was made and propagated in the military and non-military areas of Meerut. Swami Haridas, the priest of the Shivalaya, used to disguise himself as an ascetic to spread awareness among people in favour of the uprising. Today, this tree in the courtyard of this temple is a witness to that era when after the failure of the uprising, the British had hanged many revolutionaries from its branches.
