One of the nine gates of the erstwhile walled city, today Sohrab Gate is more famous for the Government-run Bus Depot than the gate itself. There was a time when travellers from Moradabad, Bareilly, Rampur, etc. used this gate to enter Meerut city. Located at a short distance from Shahpir Gate, the Sohrab Gate, as the name suggests, was built by a prosperous landlord named Sohrab Khan around 350 years ago. With time, the city expanded and the wall disintegrated, but the Gate stands as a mute spectator of the bygone era.
