Welcome to the Siddhpeeth Panchmukhi Mahadev Temple, considered to be one of the oldest temples of Meerut in which the Panchmukhi form of Mahadev was established by the demon king Mai. It is said that Mai had established this city, whose name in ancient times was Mairashtra. The temple premises is located in Sarai Lal Das. According to Ramayana, Ravana's wife Mandodari was the daughter of the Mai king. Later, in the early 19th century, the Marathas renovated the Siddhapeeth and their Guru Yadavgir gave the estate of two and a half villages to this temple for its maintenance. Spread over 6 bighas in the middle of the old city, the premises also house temples of Mahamaya, Goddess Bhagwati and Mansa Devi. Even today this is an important center of faith not only in Meerut city but the entire western Uttar Pradesh.
